Learn how BEACN adds value to our clients

Who do we work with?

Since our founding in 2006, we’ve completed 154 projects for 119 unique clients, from early-stage start-ups and nonprofits to Fortune 500 firms and government organizations.

Due to our rich diversity in member backgrounds and interests, BEACN feels comfortable tackling nearly any challenge. When selecting projects, we seek clients who are committed to sustainability and social responsibility, and project scopes that are valuable to both our clients and our members.

The BEACN team has been some of the most forward-thinking and environmentally conscious students that we've worked with at our nonprofit. They have made substantial positive impact in local underserved communities and have helped us take our work with university students to the next level.

Having worked in marketing and advertising with major ad agencies and multinational clients, I can tell you from start to finish, the job the BEACN team did was highly professional and comparable to what you’d get from a professional consultancy.

Founder, Sustainable Design and Manufacturer

From start to finish my experience working with BEACN was incredible. I was impressed by the professionalism, impeccable communications skills and organization of the entire team. The product they delivered provided in-depth analysis and recommendations that will benefit our programs and organization.

San Francisco Bicycle Coalition

The presentation blew us away - the content and organization were at a level that one would expect from an MBA grad or career marketer, and everyone on the team presented with confidence. It is not often that undergraduate students have the skills to synthesize data into a meaningful story and recommendations, but the BEACN team did just that.

BEACN wowed us with a final deliverable that had quality equivalent to a professional consultancy firm's. Their passion, curiosity and intelligence helped us gain a different perspective of the subject that we're studying. We were able to take their work and turn it into actionable items to drive priority list changes that we had been putting off for a long time.

What does BEACN project work entail?

Projects run on a semesterly basis in the fall and spring. Each project team consists of 5 Associate Consultants led by 2 Project Managers. Project team members are carefully matched with projects based on their interests and skills.

Project scopes vary widely as they are customized to the needs of each client. The following table summarizes the services that BEACN provides:

Past Project Examples

The majority of BEACN’s project work is protected by non-disclosure agreements. We prioritize client confidentiality and only publicly discuss or display past work with explicit approval.

  • In order to accelerate Dell and Intel’s mission to democratize emissions accounting, BEACN synthesized an extensive research report analyzing the landscape of emissions accounting tools, technologies, and methods. BEACN developed proprietary rubrics to evaluate the reliability, accessibility, cost, and advanced capabilities of said tools and methods. Report is NDA-protected, but you can view a summary of the project below.
